About me

I am a final year A-Level student, studying Maths, Physics, History and Modern Greek. Not only do I work at a high level, having been predicted four A*s and having received only 9s and 8s at GCSE, but I have combined my knowledge and deep understanding in each of these subjects to develop a more balanced and wide-ranging approach to tutoring. From having won awards at multiple UKMT Maths olympiads, to having participated in prestigious challenges like the Green STEM challenge with Imperial College to completing in-depth research in subjects like History, Politics and Sociology, I value in myself the ability to find interest in all topics and most importantly, to inspire it in my tutees.

In particular, my love for History and Politics has led me to pursue a History & Politics degree at university. I currently hold three UCAS offers - from the University of Oxford, King’s College London and the University of Bristol and am on track to achieve my predictions. The fact that I have gone through the UCAS application system so recently means I am incredibly well equipped to tutor others to do the same - especially with the planned changes for the 2025 entry! Moreover, I am able to prepare those interested in applying for History or History and Politics, with in-depth HAT admissions test and interview support, as I myself sat the process this year with success.

I have had solid experience with tutoring others, having worked for over a year now at Kumon Maths & English as a Teaching Assistant with students of different ages, levels and backgrounds. My work with younger students helped me to develop and expand my communication strategies, while my tutoring of older and higher-level students has stimulated my ability to explain more complicated concepts. Overall, I have often received praise for giving thorough and analytical, yet concise explanations.

About the sessions

Thanks to my rather wide experience with tutoring different types of students, I have acquired a robust general approach when explaining, which I am able to fit the specifics of, to each individual tutee. You can always count on me to do thorough preparation for my lessons and comprehensive research on the best study materials, websites, workbooks etc. to recommend. I am able to identify strengths, weaknesses and gaps within each student’s learning and help them create and organise a study plan.

My target as a tutor is to build solid understanding and confidence in my tutees by teaching them functional strategies to approach questions, which can be applied in exams. My lessons generally involve a lot of worked examples of questions and I am always happy to have questions sent to me for feedback and guidance. Then, I can help my students find more similar style questions and we can practise them together or I can set them for one’s own time to help retention and consolidation. My tutoring sessions run online and I make use of online boards for easier communication during the lesson. Of course, however, this is all to a large degree customisable according to your wishes!
